Welcome

Linking science with practice

Prof. Massimo Simion | Scientific Chairman
It is only a few years ago that bone and tissue regeneration appeared as complicated and risky as climbing Mount Everest to many practitioners. Happily the situation has changed. Thanks to simple and reliable treatment concepts it is now impossible to imagine implantology and periodontology without regeneration.
The continued training of the practitioner plays a decisive role in the success of the regenerative therapy concept: someone who understands the biological basis of the concept can estimate the potential risks. Someone who knows which of the many new concepts are suitable for use in practice and which are still risky, can select the therapy suitable for his or her own patients.
Use Osteology in Monaco, to bring your knowledge up to the state of the art and so reduce the potential treatment risks in the most difficult cases too.
And if you wish to learn how to minimize risks when climbing Mount Everest, listen well to the opening lecture of Prof. Oswald Oelz. The internist, known in mountain climbing circles as “the Bull“, is a specialist in mastering risky situations – and a well known speaker.

Dr. Franck Renouard | Scientific Chairman
Ferrari, McLaren, Renault – Monaco is famous for formula 1 racing: the timing of the box stop, the choice of tyres and the willingness of stars like Schumacher, Raikkönen and Alonso to take risks, fascinate millions of people. Timing, choice of materials and risk assessment are also decisive for the success of our work – and regeneration is fascinating in its own right!
At Osteology in Monaco we intend to interconnect the timing of the intervention, regenerative materials and therapeutic risks, with the fascination of the science and daily demands in practice: new studies, concrete tips for treatment, podium discussions with scientists and practitioners, surgery videos and workshops. The contributions and discussions should give us answers to the questions: what are today’s requirements of a therapy, what is the clinical reality and what will the future look like?
Monaco is a further extra special town to host Osteology following Vienna, Venice, Barcelona and Lucerne. Even though the famous Grand Prix will take place two weeks later, Osteology will already present you high-tech, professionalism and perfect timing in regeneration.

Prof. Christoph Hämmerle | President Osteology Foundation
We will not find out who is to win the next formula 1 Grand Prix of Monaco here at Osteology in Monaco, but instead what therapies permit the reliable regeneration of bones and tissues. This series of symposia held under the patronage of the Osteology Foundation, has gained profile in recent years with its emphasis on training in regeneration. The core topics are the current scientific results and new clinical concepts. More than 70 experts from 15 countries will present their results and new insights at Osteology in Monaco.
Since 2003 the Osteology Foundation has promoted training, research and cooperation between universities and industry in the field of regeneration. At Osteology in Monaco you will discover how scientific and clinical knowledge can improve regenerative treatment. We are looking forward to seeing you!
